What is an air cooled dispensing system?
Below are descriptions double air shaft, and single air shaft, air cooled system that can be setup with walk-in sized coolers.In both types of system, cold air from the walk-in cooler box is forced to the dispense tower, and then returned to the cooler. This forms a continuous air loop, along side beer hoses to keep them cold. This system tries only to maintain the air temperature from the walk-in. Beer is not additionally cooled in the air shaft.
A walk-in that is used for food storage and continuously opened is not good for either of these applications due to fluctuations in the walk-in air temperature. The air cooled system cannot be more than 25 feet overall from walk-in to the dispense tower. Blower: Size of the blower is determined by the distance from walk-in to dispense tower, and the number of bends in the shaft.

(Dispensing Up To 25 Feet)
The double duct keg beer system is defined as two ducts with a blower for continuous air circulation. One duct is for the cold air supply from the walk-in-cooler to the point of dispense. The second duct is for the cool air to return from the point of dispense back to the walk-in-cooler. Usually, the double duct system is used in conjunction with a shaft box or double pedestal draft beer tower to insure proper return of air to the walk-in-cooler.

SINGLE AIR SHAFT SYSTEM - Tube Within Tube
(Dispensing Up To 25 Feet)
Walk-in-cooler air is blown through the smaller (inner) duct and returned to the cooler through the larger (outer) duct. Usually, an air separator kit and a baffle plate are required in the draft beer tower to insure proper air circulation. This type of a system is used with a single column beer tower.
