Just ran out of the Summer Ale and, with the cooler evenings just around the corner (at least up here in New Hampshire) I went with the 1/2 barrel of Octoberfest this time around.

FWIW I've been running Allagash White and Dominon Victory Amber. Having trouble getting hold of some of the sixtels I'm interested in. The Dominion brews are relatively cheap and you certainly can't get fresher.

I'm probably going to put on an Oktoberfest of some stripe next. Possibly Hacker-Pschorr if I can get one of the 50l. I'll be needing a new coupler of course wonder where I could order one...........

Octoberfest keg just ran dry. A quick call to the RedHook Brewery and I have a keg of WinterHook lined up for pickup tomorrow. My favorite beer so I am very much looking forward to a few cold ones tomorrow evening.

Working on finishing a keg of Paulaner Oktoberfest now. I have about a half of a 1/6th keg of Victory Lager sitting in my basement when the Okto is gone. But I am worried that it will be bad because it hasn't been refrigerated. Next I am probably going to get a hefe. Maybe Franziskaner.

That keg sitting around in the basement is sure to be bad. Gotta keep the stuff cold man.

Yeah - probably so. But I had no choice.

Let us observe a moment of silence for the keg gone bad.

There are some guys over at another forum that assure me the beer won't go bad. Here is a link to that thread where they explain:

Stefan, A non-pasteurized draught beer must be kept refrigerated at all times or the bacteria missed by the filtration process will grow and an off taste will occur. If your draught is a pasteurized, then the warm storage will not be an issue. Flavor deterioration due to age and any oxidation will be the enemies pasteurized kegs.

Most import beer is pasteurized and domestics are not pasteurized. Simply determine what you have.

Where did you pick up that Paulaner sixtel? I'd love to match it up with a Victory Golden Monkey as I live about 4 miles from Victory Brewing HQ.

At least until SHINER starts distributing in this region....
