  • CO2 leak with air purifier

I have discovered that I have a leak after noticing that a full tank of CO2 was empty within a week with the same keg. I have in place an inline CO2 filter w/ 2 quick disconnents each running to 4 feet of line. I turned off the pressure to the CO2 bottle and watched the pressure on the high side drop when the coupler was in the disengaged position. I then bypassed the air filter and ran the CO2 directly to the keg. After I did this the pressure stayed constant all night with the air supply to the tank cut off. Could the quick disconnects be causing the leak? Anyone heard of this before? Thanks.

What type of quick disconnects are you using?

Did you try hooking it back up and check for the leak with soapy water?

No, I have not tried those Scott. I assume I would only need 2 female pieces?

Do you think the C02 Purifier really makes a difference? I was thinking about getting one but I don't know if it would really improve the taste.

You would require a male and a female since they are not interchangeable with other style connectors.

Any purifer would give you piece of mind. If you do not detect an off taste - "if it is not broke, don't fix it". Normally you can detect an odor with contaminated gas. What you smell, you taste. If you do suspect an odor - filter the gas.
