  • BM23 thermostat connection

I know it's cliche but first off I'd like to say thanks to all the helpful people on these forums. For somebody new to kegerators, these forums have really helped me get through some issues.

I recently purchased a BM23 off Craigslist and long story short I need to install a new thermostat. The unit runs non-stop, so I removed the access panel to look at the thermostat and it was corroded and pretty much falling apart. I bought an external thermostat as a short term solution but I plan to replace the thermostat (buying one from PartsTown) as a proper solution.

My question is about the connections to the thermostat. Does it matter if I install the plugs right side up, or upside down (making sure to plug them onto the proper terminal)?

The reason I ask is that the 2 plugs that connected to the thermostat were both "right side up", meaning their cables ran down from the connection (these are elbow plugs so they have a 90 degree turn). For the top plug this meant it had to run its cable to the side of the bottom plug and this seemed to cause it to pull on the thermostat terminal, which probably isn't the best thing to do.

So, does it matter if I install the bottom right side up and the top upside down? This would allow their cables to run away from the connection without interference.

Sorry for asking such a simple question. While I'm good enough at taking stuff apart and putting it back together (the same way), I'm not always sure when something like this doesn't matter or just because it fits doesn't mean you should hook it up that way.

    Thanks in advance.

For that unit it makes no difference at all. You can connect the leads however they fit best.
