  • Black flakes in beer

I have a Summit kegerator and clean the beer lines every keg. For the past several kegs I have been getting black flakes in my beer cup. The kegs usually last about three months.

Does anybody know what would be causing the black flakes?

Perhaps a washer that is breaking apart? Check the beer line into the coupler.

Or maybe the washer on the coupler...

    Let me know.

Do you take apart the faucet and coupler and clean them? I'd bet that these flakes are coming from those areas. Also the faucet has two vent holes that this stuff will use as a breeding ground if not kept clean.
Malt is the soul of beer... and yeast gives it life..
but the kiss of the hop is the vitality of that life!

My three favorite beers: The one I just had, the one I'm drinking now and the next one I'll have.
