Newbie here to the forum. I've had my Danby Chill n' Serve Kegerator for about 4 years. It does not have a digital temp display. It was the model before that. Well within the last month i noticed it wasn't cold at all and the blower was not running. Dosen't sound like it's powering up at all. Any ideas on a solution other than taking it to a repair guy?

Does the blower & compressor run at the same time or does the blower normally run all the time?
If the blower & compressor are tied together it might be a case of the temperature control sticking. When you turn the temperature control do you hear it click on & off?
It also might be a case of a bad power cord or plug. Has it been pinched?Last edited by THE ICEMAN; 02-22-2008, 05:02 PM.My conversion ===------->> KILLER KEGERATOR"Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. No this is not the tower blower. I have not yet made this mod. I'm talking about just the regular kegerator, without modifications. It just will simply not power up. I can hear some clicking like it wants to come on but it will not cool down and I hear no fan running. Is there some sort of power supply that could have went bad or something?

The clicking that you are hearing, is it coming from the compressor? If your condenser fan went bad it would cause the compressor to overload & this may be the clicking you are hearing - the compressor kicking out on overload. Not good.
I work on these things for a living so the more details you can give the better I can help you find out what is going on.My conversion ===------->> KILLER KEGERATOR"Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Yes I mean the condenser fan. Sorry. The clicking noise sounds like it's coming from the wire connections that were covered by the silver protection box. I removed it to show the wires. I am then hearing a second clicking sound coming from the black box attached to the compressor. I've attached a couple of pics. Hope this helps and thanks ICEMAN.

If you are lucky, a serviceman may be able to add a start capacitor to the compressor or a "hard start" kit after replacing the fan motor but don't count your chickens. If the compressor is indeed toast you might as well start shopping for a new kegerator. The cost to replace the compressor could easily approach the cost of a new unit.
There is also an outside chance the compressor is under a 5 year warranty. I'm not familiar with Danby & what warranty they might have so you would have to check. Commercial units, which I work on, generally come with 5 years on the compressor. My conversion ===------->> KILLER KEGERATOR"Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. I had the same problem with that model as well. Your starter went out. The starter looks like a fuse looking thing that the wires go into that then plugs into the compressor. You can tell it has gone out if you hear clicking like it's try to turn the compressor on. For me, luckily the starter went out within the first month of me having my Danby. Since it was under warranty I had repair people come out and they said they would have to order the part. However, according to them, Danby had the part on backorder for 3 weeks. In the end I just returned my kegerator and got the newer model. Just call up Danby though and order a new starter. It can't be too expensive and it's super easy to replace.
