  • Danby Condenser Fan not working!

I recently purchased a Danby Chill n Tap kegerator off of craigslist (I know, bad idea) for a price you wouldn't think anything would be wrong with it. It would cool down to 34 degrees but would then go up to around 45ish. I thought it was the temp sensor but after I replaced that I figured out what the real problem was. The fan that is supposed to kick on to cool the condenser isn't working. I wired the fan up directly to 110v and the fan is fine. Is there a sensor hooked up to the condenser that tells the fan when to kick on that could have went bad? If so where can I get a new one or how do I fix it?Help Me!! I need BEER!!

It sounds like you have one of the outdoor rated models. It is likely the relay on the control board that operates the fan has failed.

Can I buy a new relay or do I have to replace the whole control board?

Look on the relay for markings. It is probably Omron, Nais or some other common manufacturer available from Newark or the like.

I am new to all of this and I don't mean to ask a lot of questions but couldn't I just put a external temp control on it and call it good or would that be a bad idea?

In the long run, the external temperature control would be the best.

Ok sounds good, But doesn't the condenser fan still have to run and how do I bypass the danby temp sensor, just unplug it from the inside?

I believe the condesor fan is a brown wire from some post other members have made. I'd wire it to come one with the compressor.

I just wired the fan up directly to the compressor and It works Great! Now I hope that it will cool my Danby down a few more degree's so my beer is a little cooler but I plan on getting an external temp regulator in the future anyways. Thank you Psychodad for your help and Wisdom. If it weren't for this forum I would have been lost. Thank you again and I will keep you posted on how well it works.

This is the best Forum for Kegerator Q&A!!!!! PERIOD!!! These Guys Know What They Are Talking ABOUT!!

The Danby Kegerator is still working great since I wired the fan directly to the compressor. I also built a tower cooler and its working great! I have still yet to get an external temp controller but I plan on it in the next couple weeks.
