  • Chest Freezer Conversion Concern

Hi, I am new here and want to take the kegerator plunge. Due to space and $$ limitations, I want to convert a small chest freezer for my kegerator and plan to use the Johnson Controls A419 temp controller on it. I want to go thru the sidewall for my tap so I avoid the complexity of cooling a tower but my question is this - are there coils in the sidewall of a chest freezer? I seem to recall ice forming on the upper sidewalls of my mom's old chest freezer, but that was many, many years ago so I am not sure about a newer one. If there are coils present, how can I avoid them? Are the inner sidewalls removeable so I can see what's in there? Thanks for your help.

If I'm not mistaken, the walls of these things have all kinds of lines in them. People who use chest freezers that don't want a tower build collars for the lid that they put the shanks and faucets in.

but the kiss of the hop is the vitality of that life!

My three favorite beers: The one I just had, the one I'm drinking now and the next one I'll have.
