  • Metal washer on shank?

I bought a bunch of shanks and faucets from a restaurant that was closing about a year ago. Most of the shanks came with the shank itself, a shank sleeve and a coupling nut. However a few of them were a different style and also included a thin metal washer. When I bought them the washer was positioned like it would fit between the faucet and the sleeve. However, when it's in that position it prevents the sleeve and coupling nut from being close enough to the faucet to connect properly. Any idea on how this washer is supposed to be positioned or if it's even needed? Thanks in advance!

What ever that metal washer is for, it doesn't go there. That may be the washer for the lock nut to secure the shank on the wall?

Thanks for the reply. I put it between the locknut and the flange but it doesn't seem like it's needed.
