  • Cleaning Glycol (not product) lines

I have recently taken over a bar that was using a soda carbonator and rv antifreeze as a glycol system. I replaced the carbonator with a used banner powerpack and new glycol. all went well, pretty blue fluid, nice and cold, but later that day the pump was quite loud, the fluid was gray with a LOT of sediment in the bottom of the tank, and the flow was about half of what it was when I started it.

Obviously there is something funky in the lines, my question it this, can I run blc through my glycol lines (just the lines, not the powerpack) without it causing problems with the copper lines at the taps. I had already flushed them with water before i put the new fluid in so that is why I want to use the cleaner.

According to the BLC safety data sheet, incompatible with brass and copper.
