  • Correct Line Cleaner Solution and Equipment?

    Hey Guys -

[The Long Story] I run a pub with 16 lines at a couple of hundred feet a piece. We had our distributors regularly clean the lines, but unfortunately wasted a lot of product doing so (they would blow out more than a few pitchers worth of beer just to fill the line). I'd like to clean in-house to save product cost.

[The Short Story] I need to know - if I'm using a Beer Can (given to us for free) should I be using the powdered or liquid cleaning chemicals? How long do I soak a line at that length?

    Any help appreciated.

Liquid you can get through micromatic http://http://www.micromatic.com/category-cid-9693.html. With that much line you are still going to have waste, no way around it. How often are you going to clean your lines? Every 2 weeks is brewery recomended.

200' line contains approx. 150 oz of product in each line. Unfortuneately there is no way around loosing this product unless you schedule cleaning the line only when a keg blows.

Also realize that cleaning with an electric pump will be far better than pot soaking. Check to see if you have a line cleaning company in your area. They will care about quality and savings passed on to you more so than the distributor and you will be more worry free with no training needed. With draws as long as yours just make sure they take the faucets apart every cleaning and spend minimum 15 minutes/line.
