  • Vegetable glycerin with water for 3 months in lines exposed to winter conditions

Does food-grade glycerin mixed with water leave any kind of taste in beer lines? In seasonal bars with lines exposed to cold weather, I would like to use a glycerin/water mix for the "hibernation."
What dilution should be used (rarely, if ever is the temp below 14F/-10C)? Is there any chance at all of getting a permanent alteration in the lines taste-wise due to this?
    Thanks,

    Bob

I don't know anything about the glycerin question, but we simply clean the lines and leave empty. If you blow the lines dry, there is no water to freeze and burst the lines. Live in Virginia and been doing that for years with great success.
