  • Need to expand from 6 to 10 taps

I manage a small Tavern and we have found the need for more taps. We have a glycol system installed with a 6 line trunk. Ideally I would like to keep the 6 tap tower and add another 4 tap tower about 20' from existing tower. I would assume I would need to go up to a 10 line trunk or could I just add and additional 4 line trunk and would I be able to run glycol to both trunks? I'm sure I left out lots of info but not sure where to begin.

    Where are you located ?
How old is the existing system?
Single pump glycol unit or a double?
What is the model and brand of your current glycol machine ?
What is the total distance from the keg box to the tap system ?
Does the existing trunk run overhead or under ground through a chase?
The answers to the questions above will give you and your installer a much clearer idea of what is the best way to procede

You could add a 4 product trunk line to your existing system and loop the glycol. I would run the glycol to the new tower first, since it is the furthest then back to the cold box( 102' total run ) and then out to the existing tower( 64'total ) and then back to the cold box. The one issue I see with this is that gives you a total run of 166' total. The MMPP-4301 glycol power pack is only rated at 125'. This puts you 43' over the max run and may cause cooling issues. If you upgraded to the MMPP4301-PKG model, this would give a second pump to circulate the glycol.
Is the current trunk in a chase or suspended ?
