having trouble cleaning with pump

I work for a beer line cleaning company; and we have started using pumps to clean. I have a few stops with the perlick beer pump in cooler. I turn arrow to reverse flow like I have been instructed when I turn on pump ithe water enters first line and will not go thru the other lines. Turn off pump remove my send line and water shoots out making a hot mess. what am I doing wrong or what am I not doing that I should? My pump is a micro matic EBC 300

Only reverse the flow on the pumps that are on the lines being flushed towards the cooler. The lines flowing towards the faucet end need to be in the forward flow position.

thanks i did bowling alley previously and that was my thinking but i think i did it backward. this old dog is trying to learn new tricks

older gray perlick pumps with the plastic arm on bottom pull toward you to turn pump off can that flow be reversed too?
