  • Glycol Unit is slowly Raising in temp and shows shgns of freezing

Installed a glycol unit in a bar 4 months ago. Units capacity is for 250 feet, only 80 feet draw. Recently it just started raising in temp from a set temp of 27 degrees to 37-38 degrees. Walk in is staying cold. Has Ice building on top layer of bath and around unit. The bath is full, having a hard time trouble shooting it, any thoughts?

Have you taken a temperature reading of the glycol bath yourself? If the thermostat probe is malfunctioning and reading high, the compressor will remain on which could explain the ice.

Check glycol concentration. If too much condensation has been absorbed into the glycol, ice builds up around the coils and acts like an insulator, slows the heat transfer process. Also, check for clean compressor coil. Also, I like what mikejferrari said also.
