    Default Glycol mix

For years (been in the business for 23 years) we used a 50/50 mix for glycol. Micromatic suggests 2.5 water to 1 glycol. The glycol coolers up until recently had 50/50 mix posted on it, now they have 2.5/1 on it. Just wondering the reasoning behind the change? Tapman

In my opinion the newer power packs are becoming better insulated and your not having as much of a problem with the glycol become dilluted from condensation. I still think work needs to be done in improving the short run power packs though. The 125 ft and above seem to be holding the mix pretty good now.

it is more the power pack than the chemical

older power packs arent sealed as well and get more condensation. With these old units, you start stronger so you can go longer between changing because they dilute so quickly

stick with 50/50 if it gets humid where you ****. Most tanks still arent sealed well. You can use the 2.5/1 on completely sealed tanks like on k-ways or newer sealed ****** units. I use 50/50 with all micromatic units

I wouldnt go any stronger than 50/50. You need water for system efficiency. Water can carry heat better than propelyne glycol. the water is doing the w o r k of moving the heat, the glycol keeps it liquid

I've Had to go stronger than 50/50 because of an ice bank on the coils cooling the glycol, this ice will not let the glycol get below 31-32 degrees and the systems run to foamy. This seems to **** o.k. after the glycol get cold.

Is that one of the old PL units that MM used to sell? I had a lot of trouble maintaining a proper glycol level in those pieces of junk. There was a reason they quit selling those. Tapman
