I want to start by saying thanks to everyone for providing a wealth of info on this site. I am in the process of starting a new draught maintenance/education/consulting company so I have been lurking here for the past few months. I attended the Dispense Institute session in Sept, and must say that if you haven't been, you need to go. It is well worth it. Priceless if you work in the industry.

Anyhow, my question...I have one of the electric line cleaning pumps (from MM) that I am using to clean lines. I have an account where they have 8 taps, each line is 60 feet. The pump has a gauge on it that reads the pressure in psi. I understand that I need to keep it under 50 psi. However, when it's at 40 psi, the solution exits at 60-80 oz/min. Is that normal?? My understanding was that it pumps solution through at 4 g / min.

Steve, this is normal. The amount of restriction designed into the system will have an impact on what the 40 PSI will do. Your flow should be sufficient for circulating and superior cleaning.

Are you removing any significant amount of solids from the systems you have taken on?

also take into mind to reverse your direction of flow on each visit you will be surprised at the amount of solids you get out when you reverse every other visit

Thanks Scott. It is remarkable how much the process removes. One account has not had their lines cleaned in 2 yrs. Took me over 3 hours to clean. Once we get on a roll and complete the first few visits at each account, it gets quicker since there is less gunk in the system and I use either the BLC or the Acid, not both like I do in the first visit. I kept samples of their jumper lines (which I replaced) and their barbs to the kegs which were covered in mould. I use those now to show potential clients and participants in my seminars.

Ernestbud - great point. I will start reversing the flow every other visit. Thanks.
