    Default Balancing questions...

Currently reading thru the balancing guide, preparing for my stuff to arrive...

    2 questions:

    1. I may use 1/2 barrels or 1/4 barrels. If I am using the same length of hose from the tap to the tower, will this change my balance calculations any?

    2. The guide states that I should refer to the brewer's specifications for CO2 volume, is there a list to refer to somewhere or is this actually on the keg somewhere itself?

    Thanks!

For balancing purposes, lift is mesured from the bottom of the keg so 1/2 or 1/4 does not matter. Volumes of CO2 is a bit trickier and sometimes hard to find. Typical domestic beers in the 2.5-2.6 range.

    Hi,

    I'm using a Beverage Air DD-58:

So I'd imagine it's about a foot or so from the top of the keg (a 1/2 barrel).

I don't know how far(how long) the actual beer line is though. That won't change between 1/2 and 1/4 kegs.

I currently am running a 1/4 barrel of MGD, but I will be running Pyramid Hefeweizen and Strongbow cider about 99% of the time.

Ah, so from the bottom. Thank you for the clarification, I must have misunderstood.

Do you know what the volumes would be for Pyramid Hefeweizen and Strongbow cider?

    Thanks!

I read on a different site that you measure from the middle of the keg - I've been using that figure in all my balancing equations... :-/
