Default Can I fill CO2 tank mid-keg?

I was wondering if it is OK to un-tap a keg and get the CO2 tank filled while there is still beer in the keg?

I think that un-tapping the keg would keep the pressure inside the barrel until the CO2 tank is re-attached. I would think it would only be disconnected for about a day, but I don't know if this will affect the taste/quality of the beer. Are there any other considerations that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance,
Ted

I see this as a better alternative to running out of gas Friday evening where you won't be able to get it refilled until Monday.

If you untap the kep BEFORE disconnecting the regulator than you will be fine. Turn off any valves on the gas system as well and it will keep the system closed off. Good luck.

Simply place the coupler in the untapped position while getting your cylinder refilled. The valve in the keg will form a seal. Once a fresh gas supply is available, re tap keg.
