I have 17 accounts with FOB's but they have all been either the FD-1 or the DFC 100 type. I just acquired a new account the has the DFC45WM and the lines have not been cleaned on a regular basis. Can this unit be taken apart for a good scrubbing? One of them the float is not connected to the knob on top to lift the float, is this repairable?

If the FOB is that obviously dirty the rest of the system is probably in dire need of a scrubbing too. The FOBs are easily taken apart by turning the top clear jar off of the base. After you take this off the inside piece at the base snaps out. Once you have opened up the FOB, check to see if you can repair the float or try to determine if the stem is damaged not allowing the float to stop at the base of the stem.

When placing the jar back on the base, simply turn until the "stop" does not allow you to turn anymore.

I have seen a lot of neglected FOB that are just turning into another yeast trap from the lack of frequent cleaning. But they do serve as a good visual aid of on going beer sampling of what is being serve to their customers.
