Default What is growing in my beer?

Does anybody know what microbes could be growing in my beer lines. I've read the standard bacteria/fungus/mold/yeast but was wondering, specifically, what we are worried about and what symptoms one might experience. I just ordered a cleaning kit and was wondering if anybody knew.

Every month, between kegs, I take apart my entire system and soak everything in warm water and soap. I take apart the faucet and clean thoroughly, and reassemble. For the most part, my lines are clean. Routinely though, I have a plug of mold in the faucet which usually comes out at the end of the month. I was just wondering if that method of cleaning is sub-par. I am eagerly waiting for the delivery of the cleaning kit to simplify my routine.

From my cleaning experience, 7 years, I believe the problem is more beer quality than a health issue. The deposits in your lines will create sour tasting beer, cloudy beer, floaters in your beer, etc. Once you receive your cleaning kit, I would recommend cleaning twice a month if you are having sever buildup. Definately clean the faucet more often if you have a "plug of mold".

Follow the directions for your kit, and you will be enjoying clean, fresh tasting beer!
