Default PRESSURE

ALL OF THE INFORMATION I HAVE READ SAYS THAT TAP CO2 PRESSURE NEEDS TO BE BETWEEN 12-14 PSI BUT EVEN AT 8 ON MY REGULATOR MY BEER DISPENSES VERY FOAMY. I RAN AN EXPERIMENT AN DETERMINED THAT THE BEER DISPENSES THE WAY I WOULD LIKE IT TO AT 5-6 PSI. WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS WHAT THE MINIMUM PSI SHOULD BE TO KEEP THE BEER FRESH AND TO PREVENT SPOILAGE?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

JEFF

OH I GUESS I SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFO:

37.5 DEGREES
BUD LIGHT
ALTITUDE OF 1300 ABOVE SEA LEVEL

I DONT KNOW IF ANY OF THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE?

THANKS AGAIN, JEFF

The pressure doesn't matter keeping beer fresh but the temperature does. At 5-6 psi your beer will go flat.

Set pressure at 14 PSIG to maintain the natural carbonation level of the beer for the life of the keg. Install four feet of 3/16" ID tubing to acquire 128 oz./min flow rate. There is no such thing as experimenting. These principles are based on the laws of gases, hydronics, physics, etc.

WELL, AN APDATE TO MY POST:
I BOUGHT NEW FAUCETS AND THE BEER FLOWS SO MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL.
I HAVE THE PRESSURE SET AT 12 AND I GET ABOUT 1/2 TO 1" HEAD ON A 60oz PITCHER, PLUS THE WASTE OF FOAM IS 99% ELIMINATED.

I DISASSEMBLED AND CLEANED THE OLD FAUCETS AND I COULD NOT SEE ANY REASON FOR FOAM OTHER THAN SOME WORN GASKETS (ALLBEIT THESE HAVE ENDURED UPWARDS OF 30 YRS OF ABUSE) WHO KNOWS? DOES ANYONE KNOW IF PERLICK FAUCETS WERE DESIGNED TO PRODUCE MORE FOAM THAN OTHER BRANDS?

I DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT BRAND OF FAUCETS THESE NEW ONES ARE, HOWEVER UPON INSPECTION THERE ARE ONLY EXTREMELY MINOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE OLD PERLICK ONES AND THE NEW "NO NAME" BRAND ONES

JUST A RECAP:

4 OLD PERLICK SINGLE KEG DIPSENSERS
37.5 DEGREES AVERAGE (+/- .2 DEGREES)
BUDWEISER
BUD LIGHT
COORS LIGHT
MILLER LIGHT
PREVIOUSLY THE BUD LIGHT FOAMED THE WORST OF THEM ALL

ALL ARE OK NOW

HAVE A NEW QUESTION WHICH WILL BE A NEW POST.....
