Default Double cold plate 1 font

Hi I recently purchased a jockey box set up but without the cooler. I bought a double pass cold plate to run the beer through twice, So it has more contact with heat sink. However Micromatic supplied me with 3/8 beer line for the jumper, then 5ft of 3/8ths to join the first pass of the cold plate to the second pass. This is where I think the problem occurs the beer comes out of the cold plate through a thin hole and then into a wider 3/8th tube. It then is forced back into cold plate and then out again into 5 ft of 3/8ths and into the font by which time the beer is coming out nearly all froth and coming out really quickly. I just wanted to know if you thought in might be not enough resistance with the 3/8ths. I am also running at about 13psi. Thanks Jake

Jake,
From my experience, 13psi is way too low to run a cold plate. Make sure keg is cold, cold plate is elevated about 2 - 3 inches from the bottom of the cooler, lots of ice on top of cold plate, then start increasing the pressure a little at a time. I find 28 psi is generally a good pressure for a cold plate.
Good luck.
