Hi. I just installed my first kegerator conversion kit last night. All the guys in the band had one, so I had to get one. It took a while to convince the wife it was a great cost effective and stress relieving magic device that was a true bargin... anyways..
The garage fridge is a side by side, and to top that off it has a crazy angle on the bottom where the drawers were. The dimensions have forced me into a 1/6 keg. It was $50 for around 53 beers I think. Thats not much of a bargin. Is this an expensive novelty if I am using 1/6 keg size? In Oklahoma you can't purchase cold beer thats over 3.2%. Just go ahead and shoot me... Anyways, I tapped the Boulevard Wheat and cranked up the fridge. The smart strip I installed correctly doesn't show any temperature at all. I have a glass of water but no thermometer on hand, so I will get one later.
The problem is I am getting FOAM and lots of it. MM support says the temp is most likely too warm. Well the beer coming out is very cold. Also the spicket on the outside of the door is cold. I have it at 13 PSI and tried playing with this going between 10-15 range. Same in every setting. The Keg has been cooling for over 16 hours. Shouldn't it be cold? I noticed on the regulator adjustment screw that there is a hex net resting down against the CO2 tank. In the picture it looks like it should bee all the way up by the adjustment end. Is this messing something up?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I did read the FAQ and the manual. I think I have done everything accordingly. My fridge also has no actual internal temperature reader. You just adjust a dial between coldness, and a seperate dial to adjust how the cold is distributed between the freezer and the fridge.
Thanks very much.
