Cleaning
I am new to the world of kergerators. Won't you effect the beer in the keg by cleaning thelines in the middle of a keg?
Thanks

Yup. And the effect of clean lines on the beer is a better alternative to dirty ones. I clean mine every other week. The keg beer is not pasteurized and more apt to spoil.

You can untap the keg and clean the lines without any effect to the keg.

We are having people over on Friday. My 1st keg is finished. I just ordered the cleaning kit. It should take a couple days to get to me.
I'm trying to be sure that if I put a new keg in the fridge, then disconnect the lines to clean them when the kit arrives, that I will not ruin the beer when I re-connect the lines.
Thanks for the help..

You won't ruin it at all.

Cleaning every two weeks is what most bars follow. Just untap the keg, tap the cleaning pot, run the solution then flush it back out with beer. I break the facuet down and clean it while the solution is in the lines. Only thing you could really screw up would be a series where you pump solution into another keg if you taped the wrong one...but who's ever seen a series on a kegerator anyway?!

Your keg will stay pressurized with the coupler removed for cleaning. I clean my lines every week. Gives me a reason to be out in the garage. Even with my 48oz. hand pump, i run solution through twice, and rinse with cool clean water three times. I would rather take the extra two minutes and make sure all solution is out of my lines before I waste beer. Bottoms up!
