Default How to determine restriction in lines

Hello All. I am going to re-do the beer lines in my bar and I think that I was way off in what I ran in the past as I always had trouble with foam. I usually serve Sam Adams, and alot of home brew. Here are the specs of my setup.

Center of keg 12.5 "
Center of Faucet 49.5"
8' length of run beween keg and faucet.

How do I determine what hose diameter to use?

Thanks.

First, you want to measure from the bottom of the keg, as that is where the beer is drawn from. The next objective is to have the least amount of beer in the line outside the cooler. Also there are other things to consider; altitude,(sea level, 5000 feet, etc.) which dictates where your pressure should be set. Are you coming from a walkin or just from a small cooler in a remote location? If you are coming from a walkin; Gravity dictates 1/2lb/ft. 65''= 2.5 lbs 3/8 vinyl jumper hose(keg to wall bracket)=1lb 5' 1/4 barrier =1.5 lbs 3' 3/16 vinyl =9.0 = 14lbs@ 38 deg @ sea level. If this is a home system; 6' 1/4 vinyl(.85lbs/ft)=5.1 2' 3/16vinyl=6lbs Height=2.5lbs
=13.6lbs. faucet and lines must kept cold

The FAQ section may answer some of your questions. Also, Micromatic draught classes offer a wealth of knowledge on all of these topics.
