Default AVANTI BD6000 Help with Temp

I am brand new to the keg cooling world. My Avanti has not really been working ever since I have had it. I get nothing but foam when I poar a pint or even a pitcher. I read up on so much and realized that it was imperative to get a thermometer. I did that and realized that my temp was about 50. I got it down to 38 and my beer was tasting perfect. The next day it wasn't pouring at all. My temp at that time was 30. It was frozen. So I adjusted the control knob to 5 1/2 and it went up to 45, now foam again. Adjusted it to 5 3/4 and it went down to 30 and frozen again. I have been playing the temperature adjustment game for two weeks and either it was frozen or too warm, I finally decided to give up. Does anyone have any advice or insight?? Please Help.

Get used to it. As I have mentioned previously, the Avanti has themostat issues. I added 5 feet of line, which helped. I also replaced the coupler, and am thinking about purchasing one of these;

Do a searcha nd you will find others with similar problems with the thermostat. I finally have gotten mine to pour with little foam, but I am holding my breath as it could be frozen tomorrow.

That Avanti is crap. I had the same temp issues, froze 1/3 keg and gave up. I returned it to the store and bought a fridge to convert.

Ashman, a little FYI, that unit is for freezer conversions, not kegerators. it may work but why not focus on checking the t'stat first and going from there?

Mark, the thermostats on this unit all seem to be less than desirable. I have had contact with at least a half dozen owners of this same unit with the same issues. If anyone knows of a decent thermostat that would work in this unit, please feel free to post as i would be willing to give a new one a shot. Thanks!!!
