Default Most basic and stupid question ever

I just completed my fridge conversion, and it looks great. I am ready to tap my beer, but then I realize I dont know the corect steps.

Do I turn on the gas, set the pressure, then tap the keg, or do I tap the keg then work the gas?

Anyone that could give me bone-head simple instructions would be very much appreciated. Right now I have the tank and keg un-connected completely, and I want to do this right.

thank you very much.

not a stupid ? if you dont know the answer, welcome to the boards. connect your keg coupler, I make sure my regulator knob is backed off so no gas hits the keg all at once, open the co2 bottle valve all the way until it stops, adjust pressure for the type of beer that you have, good luck
