Default Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest question *time-sensitiv

I'm about to purchase CO2 dispensing equipment & after reading some of the posts in here, I'm getting a little gun-shy. I've had a keg of Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest before & used the ol' party pump -- it worked fine, but as expected the beer went flat quickly. I'm having a party in early oct & hope to keep the keg for a few weeks afterwards to finish it off, but I want to make sure I won't wreck $150 worth of beer by not getting pressure/hose diameter/length right. Compounding the problem (but just a little bit) is the fact that I want to put a splitter on the CO2 tank & run root beer at the same time. Long story short, anyone tried H-P Oktoberfest at home? Had any problems? Should I buy extra length of hose just in case? Any advice anyone has would be great -- I'd like to buy in the next day or two, but that $1 tap rental from the liquor store is kinda starting to look good...

If you buy one of the kits you should be all set with regards to line length and parts. You should be fine splitting the gas line too, if you really want to be sure don't build a gas manifold but purchase one with check valves to avoid the mixing of flavors. I wouldn't let these forums discourage you too much. You have to remember that this is where a lot of people come for solutions to their draft beer problems, hence your going to see a lot of problems. I am sure you will be just fine, fresh draft beer is hard to beat.

Thanks for the vote of confidence -- I think I'll give it a whirl.
