Default Beer Tower Mounting

I am building a home bar. My bar has will have a granite countertop when completed, what is the best way to mount the tower, since it cannot be screwed in?

I have never done it thru granite, but my guess would be a very sharp drill bit that would be cooled with h20, then use machine screws, nuts and lock washers with a rubber pad or plumbers putty to protect the granite from scratching. use stainless hardware to avoid rusting, as you know there will be spills. hope this helps, good luck

I just completed a commercial job where they had a new granite bar put in. I always make it the owners responsibility to drill all holes in any bar. They had a granite man drill the 3 1/2 inch hole using a special drill that was water cooled ( took over an hour). He would not drill the mounting holes for fear of chipping, but the house carpenter drilled it just like topgun said.

some "mechanical" know how and a bit of trial and error goes a long way. I wouldnt have a prob with the large hole, but the mounting holes I would leave to a pro

A stone cutting diamond coring bit is required to cut the granite. The procedure is to use correct RPM, pressure and keep bit cool as possible. A sponge and a bucket of water works quite well for cooling. Surprisingly, it cuts relatively fast. The problem is that the bits can start at $75 and up. Search the net - granite core bits - for product info and speed specifications.

As to the mounting hole, start with a small 1/8" stone / masonry drill bit with a hammer drill and use water to keep the hole clean and the bit cool. Finish with a larger size bit for the bolts. Take your time.
