Default how long does an untapped keg of sam adams octoberfest stay fresh

how long does an untapped keg of sam adams octoberfest stay fresh if it is properly stored cold?

i know octoberfest is out of season now, but i am hoping to find one at my beer distributor.
i didnt get one when it came out this year, because i was in philly for a month and a half for work and only home on weekends and didn't want to tap a keg and then have it go bad before i got to finish it. but now that im home for the forseeable future i was hoping to get one.

    thanks.
hey, what happened to my original signature?

There should be "fresh until" date on the keg. It's usaully fine after that too.

I think also a higher alcohol beer will stay fresh longer. We bought elf (2 sixtals) last year in the end of November and didn't tap them until February. They were stored in our basement and were absolutely fine when we finally tapped them. (They were waiting for the kegerator). However, it has more kick than SA Octoberfest.

they didnt have any, but had plenty of winter lager. i didnt buy anything yet. still deciding.

yes i've had mad elf...it does have more kick. tastes like a strong troegs dreamweaver with a cherry cough syrup aftertaste...after 2 or 3 i dont mind the taste

i'm related to the trogner bros through marriage (one of my uncles daughters (my cousin obviously) is married to a trogner, but not one of the brewmasters)

I would say only a few weeks after the date on the keg. I can taste the difference once it get close to its date.
    BM23 (I love it, $$$ well spent)
