Beverage Air model QM20?
I bought a stand alone kegerator used, and have since found that the thermostat is shot (I am assuming its the thermostat, actually). When I plug it in, it doesn't matter if I set it on "Off" or "9", it runs constantly and will freeze a glass of water within 2 hours. Freezes beer lines in about 4 hours.
Anyway, in trying to track down the part for this, I've been told by Beverage Air that they have never made a model "QM20". The plate inside the fridge, though says model QM20. I've talked to a parts company and a repair tech and they both also tell me that there is no such model and they need a part number off the thermostat.
So, I took out the t-stat, but the label that has any parts number on it is now unreadable (of course). So, how much difference do the t-stats make? Is there a comparable Bev Air model anyone knows of that I could use a t-stat from?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You could buy an external temperature controller, if it runs constantly.
Can you get a pic of the data plate with the QM20? It's probably the same thing as a BM20.

Any thoughts on where would I find the data plate? There isn't anything on the back or near the compressor... on the bottom? (haven't turned it over yet)

It's usually inside the unit. Red data plate, with the model number, refrigerant type, etc.
If you didn't get the model number off of the data plate, where did you get it?

Oh, yeah, that's the picture I included in the original post:

That is where I got the model number. Sorry, I thought you meant there should be a 2nd plate.

Baggynosheds,
Googled it found someone selling this on Craigslist, that's no longer being sold (weird same place where I live) "Beverage Air Quartermaster commercial kegerator QM-20 , BM-23", couple things can you tell us where you bought unit and any history of the unit where it came from and origin of country (it could be a outside US unit) and also can you post pictures of unit, maybe someone has some answers if they can see the unit itself.

I bought it off craiglist in Hazel Park, MI (Suburban Detroit). So, could easily be Canadian, originally. If the previous owner is to be believed, he's the 2nd owner and owned it for about 5 years. Don't know too much more than that.
Here's more photos...

And the inside:

And the thermostat itself:

If these don't show here, they are on my flickr site also...

Thanks!

Baggynosheds,
I re-read the google entry, the North Shore that's mentioned is in Massachusetts, so your unit might be Canadian, also it mentioned this, "Model BF742BF", maybe this might be the model # they want.
Honestly I'd buy a external temperature controller, from what you describe all you need is something to turn off the unit. It might cost more to get a Beverage Air rep to look at it, you could buy the part yourself and install but might not solve problem.

On principal, I would call Beverage Air back. Then, if they tell you they never made a QM-20 model, I would ask them for an e-mail address and send them a picture of that data plate.
The unit is pretty old. R12 has not been used since 1994. But if it cools, that's great. I would get an external temperature controller.

Thanks, everyone! I think I will go with the external temp controller. I was hoping to get away with a cheaper t-stat than that, but it will solve the problem.
I will see if I can get any answers from Bev Air, though when I asked them about emailing a photo of the data plate before they didn't think that would help. If I get any more info on it, I'll post a reply about it
Thanks again!

I'm sure e-mailing them the data plate wouldn't help. But I'd just want to prove to the person on the phone that they obviously are incorrect in stating that Beverage Air never made a QM20 model.
