Default Black Flakes

I am fairly new to the kegerator process but I have really been enjoying it. The last 3 kegs I have bought have had black flakes in the glass, mainly in the foam of the beer. I clean the beer lines between every keg. I have read that these flakes come from a poorly cleaned keg or a washer going bad (which I have checked), but is there any other reason why they may be in the beer (i.e. not rinsing the coupler enough, pressure not set properly, etc.)?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Nevermind, in case anyone else was curious or is new to kegerators like me and is having the same problem, check the tap. I had always soaked the tap and lightly brushed it, but I don't drink the beer too fast and there was a great deal of build-up inside the tap. I scrubed the inside with a thin brush and definitely found the root of the problem.

If you are using a black plastic brush and there is a burr inside the tap, this will also result in black flakes at cleaning. Check the flakes.. if you can split them with your fingernail or smear them with a fingertip they are likely mold/buildup, if not they may be plastic or rubber shavings from your brush or some othe source.

Work hard, play harder.
