Default Metallic tasting Guinness

I have been having an extremely strong metallic taste to my Guinness. At first I thought it was the keg so I replaced it at half full. The new keg still had a slight taste so I bought a small brush and cleaned inside the faucet itself. The keg tasted so so for about 2 days and it has gone down hill from there. The beer has such a strong metalic taste that it is undrinkable. I have cleaned the lines, tap and faucet several times with both Micromatic powder beer line cleaner and a liquid product called B.L.C. I keep the preasure at about 38PSI and the temp in the fridge is usually around 36 degrees, however, the other day while trying to trouble shoot this I found that the fridge temp was at 32 degrees. The liquid temp is unknown. I have also noticed that the beer comes out a cloudy / milky light brown color instead of a dark and clear color when the faucet is locked in the down possistion. Again the beer tastes awfull and very metalic. If I leave a glass of it out for a while and let the temp come up some (cool to the touch but not cold) it is almost drinkable, but does not have that creamy and fresh taste.

Please help!

Try to determine exactly what your beer temperature is with a calibrated thermometer. What gas are you using to dispense the Guinness?

Scott, I'll work on getting the temp (liquid) figured out. I use Guinness gas from "Airgas" here in phoenix. 75%N 25%CO2.

Thanks

There is another thread about this somewhere....I was looking for it tonight.

To eliminate the matallic taste the temp needs to be about 42 and the pressure between 28 and 32 psi...It worked for me.

I am also in Phoenix and this is my first keg (bev-air DD-58, Harps and Guinness)

The Guinness started to taste funny and metallic at the colder temp and higher pressures.

Is your equipment new? Im on my first ekg of Guinness and I noticed mine had a slight metallic taste as well. However, my beer temp was too high, at 47 to 49 degrees. I havent had a chance et to taste is at 40-42 degrees.

I thought I read somewhere on here it was due to new equipment and incorrect temperature.
