Default Kegerator is broken...please help?

Hello and thanks for letting my use your forum.

I bought my first kegerator this weekend and knew it was going to be a little bit of a project. I have found that the compressor is bad. I hope this is all that is wrong with it. I plug it in and only a buzzing happens. My model is too old for perlick to track down what compressor is in the unit and I can find it anywhere on the compressor. Does anyone know what kind of compressor is in a Perlick model #818S8-UL with a serial #172651? Or does anyone know how much any new or used compressor costs?

Thanks in advance and I anxiously await your help.

Talk to a local refrigeration tech, they should be able to repair, maybe not with the original manufacturers compresor but with a replacement. Bottom line is when it's all said and done a kegerator is just another refrigerator with some plumbing added.

thanks for the reply.

Do you happen to have a rough idea of how much a compressor of that size will cost? The unit cools with R12
