Default Guinness at 38°

I would like to know the optimum beer line length (3/16 diameter) and pressure for Guinness at 38 degrees at an altitude 620ft using Guinness mix gas (75/25), and how do I vary it if my temperature varies?

Thanks,
Jason

Guinness is dispensed completely different from ales and lagers. Four to five feet of 3/16" should be fine and adjust the pressure starting at 28 up to 40 PSIG based on the dispense you desire. No need to vary pressure due to temperature changes.

Be certain to use a stout faucet for dispensing.

I don't have to worry about over/under carbonating the beer?

I just tapped my first keg of Guinness tonight! I have a double tap system in a Marvel kegerator. I felt the beer tasted "overgassed" @ 40 psi, so I lowered it down to 32 and feel it is right. The amount of gas / psi alwyas effects taste. Too little will taste flat and too much will also effet the taste. I also went on to the Guinness website and they say to dispense @ 42.8 degrees. I also was at 38 but now I will change the temp!

If you are using the correct Guinness blend, you do not need to worry about changing the carbonation level. The temperature of Guinness should be at what you desire. The American consumer tends to enjoy beer closer to 38 than 42. But if you find that 42.8 works for you, great!
