Default Changing Beer Line

Question about changing beer line. I have a Danby chill n' tap kegerator (I know, I know, but I've been lucky; 37 deg. actual liquid temp)which came with 5/16 (I think) beer line. The shank has a nipple to match. Do I have to change out the whole shank or can I use a splicer 5/16 x 3/16 to make the 3/16 hose fit up close to the shank?

Use all 3/16" ID line between the shank and coupler. Depending on your PISG, start with five feet and trim back in four inch increments until desired flow rate is acquired. What beer are you dispensing?

I am dispensing Heineken right now with my CO2 set at 14. What should I do about the nipple on the shank? It's for 5/16 line not 3/16 ID line. I wasn't going to trim the 3/16 ID line right away, I was going to cut the 5/16 ID line as close to the shank as possible and use a 5/16 x 3/16 splicer to attach the 3/16 ID line and then trim back as needed. Will this work or do I need to replace the whole shank. I don't think the nipple seperates from the shank that I have currently.

Are you sure that the barb is 5/16"? It seems an odd size for a shank on a kegerator. They are usually 3/16" or 1/4".

"If you tap it, they will come."

CoreyD, you were right; my line was actually 3/16 out the box. I just added more line and now I have about 2" of foam when poured which I can deal with. "Thanks"
