Default (Newcastle)Want to add 2nd keg but at diff psi, but only std regulator.

    Hello:

I'm a newbie bought a keg of budlight 2 weeks ago for my 14.5 freezer chest conv. I have all the problems settle down now, have it about 37 deg at sealevel with about 12psi. Now I also want to put in a 2nd keg in of newcastle. But I also read your supposed to have it at 8psi.

I have a regular dual gauge regulator, set at (12psi w/ 55 full),with dual ouput shut off valves, one is currently closed. But I can only set one psi level. I currently have the other valve shut off and just have (1) going to the budlight. Without adding a second psi module for the other keg. or a new regulator how can I get the beer flowing for budlight at 12psi and newcastle at 8psi?

Can I sligtlty open the newcastle shutvalve to a point (trial & error) and just wing it till it works? I'm pickingup the keg on friday. I just dont want to have over carbonated Newcastle. Thanks.

not a chance that works. The only way to run at a different pressures is to get a secondary regulator.

be selfish and worry about my liver."

Thanks cubby, was hoping it might work. I might just have to switch it over to newcastle only till I have enough $$$ for a secondary. So what happens then if the pressure is 12 psi, one valve is fully open, giving 12 psi to budlight, while the other valve is half open going to the newcastle? Is it still 12 psi? Just asking. Already know u said it wouldnt work. Just looking for a temp fix.

Jonathan, also remember you'll need a different Keg Coupler for Newcastle as it doesn't use the same as Bud Light. Bud uses a D System coupler whereas Newcastle takes an S System Coupler. This link will take you to a section on MM's site that will show you US domestically distributed kegs and the Couplers they use.

    Enjoy!

I have a keg of Newcastle and I run 12 psi, it comes out nicely, not over-carbonated.

Thanks whutever, already have an "S" coupler ready to go. I guess your right Mattmc1973, I'll just see what happens at 12psi when I get the newcastle on Fri. If its starts acting up with too much foam I'll just lower the psi till its about right. If one keg has to suffer, might as well be the budlight. Im it is budlight, lol. Just got it for a tester keg and friends.

Cool, enjoy. An "S" coupler is on my short list of "next purchases" so I can enjoy one as you'll be doing this weekend.
