Default Escaping gases never satisfy...

Hey all, I've got a kegerator that I've used thru 2 kegs successfully. I just hooked up a 1/6 keg and all that's coming out is gas. Can't drink that! If I turn the keg on it's side, works perfectly. Haven't changed any settings. Any suggestions?

Need to know what beer you were dispensing, and what kind you are currently dispensing.

Sounds like a damaged keg, the internal line that takes the beer fom the bottom of the keg is most likely disconnected, so when in it's proper posistion all gas but on its side you get beer, problem is after you get half way through the keg you will get all gas again. Take the keg back where you bought it and swap it out for a new one.

Although this maybe the problem, it's probably something a little more simple. Without knowing what beer your using my first thought would be the probe washer stuck to the last barrel that was tapped. This would allow the CO2 to escape up along the probe and giving the kicked appearance. If so get a new probe washer. One other thing it might be is the washer in the top of the keg maybe damaged. Un tap the keg and check the top of the keg for any damage to the seal, also make sure nothing fell in the top that would not allow a good seal to take place. Still would like to know what products your using?

I previously tapped a 1/2 and 1/4 of sam adams. The keg I'm having trouble with is a Flying Fish 1/6.

Due to extreme weather conditions, this time of the year is hard on downtubes inside of kegs. If Beer Dr. suggestions do not correct situation, as USMC indicated, internal downtube may be split. This is caused by unused product freezing in keg as it is stored outside. Keg is unknowingly refilled and gas pushes beer down to the split and then it is over. Turning the keg sideways simple buys time.

The real problem is the longer you take to figure out what the problem is, the less likely your supplier will be to take the keg back. Especially if you turn it on it's sid and drink half the keg before taking it back.

Ha, that's all part of my testing methodology! I took the keg back, showed them the problem using one of their taps and they gave me a new keg which works fine! Thanks for the great advice.
