Default Nothing but foam?

I am having a serious foam issue. I have the Danby with the resistor mod.

My beer temp out of the faucet is ~38 deg. I now have psi set to ~18 psi for miller light, previously was ~12psi. (I have standard 5' beer line.)

I know this seems high, but I was getting lots of bubbles in the beer line, meaning its degassing correct, not getting enough pressure?

Whenever I pour, I get nothing but foam, probably due to the bubbles in the line, right? This is occurring though even with the new higher psi setting, although I do have less bubbles in the line.

I am not sure what to do here. Any suggestions?

Have I now over pressurized the keg? If so what would I do about that?

How are you measuring the the beer temp? Is it calibrated? How long has the keg been in the kegerator? If it takes 18 psi to stop the outgassing sounds like the beer temp is too high, unless you live at 6000 to 8000ft.

Absolutely Lunkhead! Calibrate that themometer. PSIG to the keg should be adjusted up one pound for every 2000' elevation change above 1000'. If you reside betweeen 1' - 1000' @ 38F beer temperature, pressure should be 14 PSIG.

Default Possible Solution

Check your BF preventer. Is the ball end facing the keg? If not flip it around.

I am new to all this. All I need is my beer tower to get my kerarator going. If am taping Heff at 52ft elevation and beer is at 38F, should my PSIG be 14? I ask because I have read different discussion from different forums and they said it all depends on the beer. Is this true?

Yes, different beers have different co2 saturations. Most should need 14 psi @ 38 degrees (miller lite is), your heff may be different. You can email the brewer for specific information.

What hefe are you considering? Some imports are more problematic then domestics due to unstable CO2 v/v levels.
