Cool Blue Moon Beer Help

Hey Everyone. I am going to try some blue moon beer on tap and was wondering if any of you blue moon beer drinkers can hook me up with some recommended C02 pressures and beer temperature? I live in Albuquerque NM about 5200feet above sea level. I went to the blue moon web site and found out that it is made by Coors. They didn't have much information about the beer specs. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cool Blue Moon Help

Ok, I forgot to mention that I have a standard Danby kegenator with the original equipment. I did do the modifications for cooling the tower and with the generic beers like bud, miller, my settings are at 12PSI and temp is at 37-39 F. I have the standard 5 feet of beer tubing and the system is fairly stable. I used to have the CO2 pressures set at 14PSI, because of my location, but that seemed to over carbonate the beer and it started having a bubbly taste, so I left the pressures at 12PSI. I did hear that the storage temp for blue moon is 35 F. does that sound right? Hope this additional informations helps.

thanks again:

At sea level my Blue Moon was perfect at 38 degrees and 16psi. Here is the information I got from them:

We recommend that you store your keg between 14 and 20 pounds pressure.

The proper storing temperature for our kegs should be between 34 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit, or 1 to 3 degrees Centigrade

Blue Moon is a Belgian White which is carbonated at higher level than most beers (around 2.8 volumes). I would start with a base psi of 16 and you would add 2-3 psi based on your altitude. If this provides a similar result then you may want to turn it down a bit to suit your preferences. You may also need a longer run of 3/16" tubing to restrict your flow.

Cool Blue Moon Help

Thanks for the help. This is great information and I am looking into getting some more tubing. I was wondering about the flow restrictor that Micro Matics sells as a subsutitue for the extra long hose. Any way I am very grateful for all the help on this product. I heard it is not a bad tasting beer, and I am going to pick up my 1/2 Keg this week.

Thanks Again.

Tubing is cheaper and with longer line8/10 feet, you can tune it the way that you prefer. Clip off a inch at a time until you achieve your goal. Blue Moon is a one of my personal favorites! Definetly worth the trouble to get it right. Enjoy!,and good luck.cya,brianatkcdraft.

Just to let you know it works great and I really enjoyed watching the finals Celtics and Lakers game 4 last night with my family. Everyone was impressed with the taste and thought it was neat to know you all helped. I will try to post some pictures so you can see how well it is pouring. thanks again
