Default Is my keg ruined??

Great forum. I bought a kegerator about six months ago and appreciate all the input from the users.

The liquor store that provides my kegs does not normally sell kegs. I have a business next to his and he uses my wifi and I pay cost for kegs.. well enough about that.

Anyway my keg of shiner bock arrived on Saturday and his brain dead employee did not put it in the cooler. I picked it up today (tuesday) and it had been sitting in a 78 degree room over the long weekend. Will this affect the keg permanently?

Thank you
Kevin

There is only one way to find out. Acclimate the keg to your system, dispense into a glass and taste it. If it is off flavor, the bacteria has grown to a point where it has impacted the product integrity.

Scott,

Thanks, I have it cooling down now. Will be trying it out shortly when the temp comes down.

I would take it back regardless. It is not your fault you have a potentially spoiled keg, its the suppliers. It's not my fault the milk was expired on the store shelf...

Yeah, but this sounds more like a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" kind of deal. He's getting kegs at cost for letting his neighbor use something that he'd be paying for regardless. I'd check out the beer before I asked to return it.

Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery
and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might
be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself,
"It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than
be selfish and worry about my liver."

It is sort of a deal, so I don't want to stir up too much trouble. I will tell the owner next time to have his employees to put it in the cooler. The good news is the keg tastes fine and we have a party coming up, so it won't last too long.

Thanks for all the help.

Default what IS cost?

Just out of curiosity, what IS cost? I'm paying $88.63, including tax, etc for each 1/2 of Bud Select here in KC at retail.

Thanks.

I think my liquor store told me they add either 15% or 18% to the cost of the keg.
