Default A little bit angry right now...

So, after I get home from a trip to the store, I realize the hose from my BeerGas tank had somehow come off of the nipple to the regulator, causing me to loose the entire bottle (brand new) to the atmosphere. So, not only is that $60 down the drain, but does that mean my keg will have gone bad too? It sat for anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours with no N/C02 pressure, just a dangling hose.

How do you keep the hose secured to the hose barbs?
I prefer to use screwable hose clamps
I think the line came disconnected closer to the 2 hour mark if it was completely empty as it takes a while for that gas to leak out at the set point (depending on the size of your tank)

Sorry, dont know what to tell you about the ber but to see if its still good by tasting it. If it was refrigerated, it isnt bad, just maybe went flat. Drink some after hooking up again and then try some after its been connected (and under co2 pressure) for a couple days and test it again.

I used the plastic re-usables that came with the hose. I brought some worm gear/screw type clamps home from work the other day, but wasnt going to change them until I had to switch out the bottle.

I bought my converted fridge minus tank and regulator and bought new lines from bev fact.
Took one look at the plastic keepers that came with the beer line and started scrounging for stainless clamps in my basement and garage

Your beer should be ok. There is a one way valve in the coupler. The beer would have shot out the gas line if it wasn't in there.

What do you mean $60 down the drain? If you are talking about co2 refill, you should be able to get them refilled at almost any welding supply shop or if you can see where the welding supply shop gets them refilled, go directly to the source.

I paid $20 for a 20lb aluminum co2 tank that a hick was fermenting wine in. I took the valve off, cleaned it out, and took it to a welding supply shop I know of and they gave me an already filled aluminum tank for $12 exchanged. Now youd probably have to wait for it to come back but if you found a place that can refill on sight, it shouldnt be too long of a wait.
Or find a paintball store or field. Sometimes they can do refills. Probably wont be as cheap as a welding shop but the paintball shop I went to said it was only $2/Lb of co2

I wish it were that cheap. This is Guinness Gas, the Nitrogen/C02 mixture. I pay $55 plus tax for each fill, not to mention the $48 to lease the bottle per year.

One funny thing to come of this... after telling my girlfriend why I was angry (because I lost all my gas), I then had to talk her into believing that the house was still safe to be in after all that gas leaking into it. And that we werent going to die from the contents of my "death bottle".

I work with PhD's.

You'd be surprised at what they'll believe.

Most people are dumb enough to believe what the gun grabbers tell them. Now look at our rights (or lack thereof)

Ok! Let's put and end to the political stuff right now. Next thing you know, I'll be banning members for posting photos of Obama and Hillary smiling.

Can we all agree to keep politics out of here????

Yes dad... (kidding!)

Anywho... in the end, lesson learned. Now I will be tightening my wormgear clamps until the vinyl starts poking through the clamps slots.

Ouch! That one stung. How far does that vinyl poke through? If it looks like a bearded dragon lizard's throat, it probably will not leak!

or slip off like mine did! I tighten them just enough so the vinyl is raised slightly higher than the steel clamp. Any more and you just start to cut the vinyl and risk splitting it. If the same method works on automotvie pressure hoses, this will be fine.

Ive had my stainless rings on since November and havent had a problem yet.
What psi does Guinness stay at? If it uses a higher psi than regular draft beer, then maybe those hose rings werent meant to be used for a nitrated beer?

38psi. I chose to use the worm gear clamps from now on.
