Default New kegerator, no beer

First kegerator, excitement abound, and no beer.

New keg. Newly filled C02. When I hooked it all up, I get pressure at the gauge (and at the tap release valve), but no beer flows.

I removed the tap from the keg, and pushed the tap lever down, and I got C02 flowing through OK.

I re-tapped, and disconnected the beer line to the tower. Still I have pressure, and the release valve works, but no beer shoots out the top of the tap on the keg.

I cranked the pressure up to ~25 PSI. Nuthin'.

I'm completely stumped. My kegerator grand opening dreams are crushed. Help?

Maybe something wrong with your tap or keg?
Do you get anything when you pull on the faucet handle?

Handle does nothing. No beer in the line between the tap and the tower.

Really, a problem with the keg -- is that common? Just seems unlikely, but I don't have the experience to know.

One of the first few times I pulled the pressure release valve on the tap I had a little bit of beer shoot out the valve. That hasn't happened since.

Ok...idiot check here. When I got my kegerator I went out and bought a keg of Heineken. Well...the Danby only came with the domestic coupler, so the same thing happened to me.

What beer are you trying to tap and are you sure you have the correct coupler?

It's a Newcastle keg. The coupler that came with my kegerator is an "American Sankey Tap". Hrmmm... maybe this is the problem?

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Get yourself an "S" European Sankey coupler or a domestic keg.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. The D and S couplers are very similar... but the S extends a little bit more.

You may be able to find a local store that sells that kind of stuff and pick one up today.

Ha ha... sure enough, wrong coupler. I found the european tap at a nearby home brew shop this morning, hooked it all back up, and success!

Thanks all for the help on my rookie mistake!
