Default Abita Foam - Help!

Oh god, please help! I've scoured the forum for mention of this problem.

I converted an extra refrigerator into a kegerator last summer. Since then, I have enjoyed several kegs, most of which were filled with my favorite microbrew, Abita Amber. Recently, I finally had to have my CO2 tank refilled. But after hooking it up with a fresh keg, I can get ONLY foam to come out.

The temperature is an appropriate 36 deg, and changes in pressure seem to change only the rate at which that interminable foam spews out of the faucet. Gauges, lines, and washers seem to all be in good order, and most perplexing is that I can see nothing but beer in the line between the keg and the faucet. (There are no bubbles to speak of!)

Can I assume that the problem is in my beer faucet, since no foam seems to be in the line? Could it be an air leak in the faucet that is wickedly turning my delicious beverage into useless foam? Or could it be a damaged CO2 tank or regulator?

Thanks in advance.

Default PSI for Abita

Does anyone know what to set the pressure for Abita Amber? I live at 8500ft, six ft of line with basic kegerator conversion kit.

Bennyt1976, have you removed the faucet to check for any debris? When was it last disassembled and inspected for damage? Since your gauges are in good shape, what are their readings? hopefully you allowed the keg to acclimate to your kegerator prior to dispensing.

Brewhaha,

If the Abita is a 2.5 v/v beer, at 38F and with your elevation, try 17 PSIG.

Scott,

Thanks for the reply. I've removed the faucet and cleaned it twice since having this problem. I've disassembled and reassembled the whole system twice. At the recommendation of my local homebrew shop, I've even let the keg get warm to release CO2 from a possibly "overpressurized" keg. Then I cooled it back down again, all at the risk of skunking my beer. There's still no change. I'm pulling my hair out at this point.

Any more advice is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Ben
