    Default 3/16 beer hose length question

    i am currently running 5 ft of line at 11-12psi and want to go longer to slow down the flow and allow me to increase co2 pressure. if i am running 12-15psi would there be a problem if i double the line to 10ft? i have a new 10 ft line and just figured i would use the whole thing! anyone else using a length of line around 10 ft? how are your results at this length? does a longer line also assist in reducing foam for a better pour? any input would be appreciated!

    Yes, the longer line will slow down the pour allowing you to increase the pressure for co2 retention in the keg. I would rather try the whole thing and shorten it as needed, but I doubt you'll need the entire 10'. I recently switched from the supplied 5' to 7' and I think my co2 level throughout the keg and my dispense foam level is better. I'll probably go 8' at some point just to see if it's even better. For reference, I run 14-16 psi at 36-38 degrees for 'normal' beers with good results except at the end of the keg which probably indicates I need to drop the pressure a tad.

    Be careful! PSIG to the keg is determined by the volumes of gas the brewer specifies, temperature and elevation. If you begin to increase the pressure too high you will over carbonate the beer in the last 25% of the keg and have dispensing problems.

    The beer tubing simply controls how fast or slow the beer will come out of the faucet. Dial in the correct pressure to the keg and then shorten or lengthen the 3/16" to acquire flow speed desired.
