Default Sanyo Not Cold Enough

I got a Sanyo 1206 in May. First keg was a 1/4 barrel, beer kept at 38 degrees with room to spare on the thermostat. Now I have a 1/2 barrel of Sam Adams, and cannot get it colder than 44 degrees with the thermostat pegged.

Besides changing out the thermostat, is there something else I can do to get it colder? I saw a mention about a fix for Haier kegerators mentioned in a different post, but I couldn't find the details.

Thanks.

TerryM

Follow-up: I found the link to the Haier fix, but the Sanyo thermostat is not as easy to take off. Any other suggestions, or does accessing the thermostat adjustment screw easy than it looks?

you may want to get an email off to mmcscott, go into members and click on his name and you can write him, he is the moderator on this site and very knowledgeable. I have the sears kenmore unit which is made by sanyo and have not had a prob with the thermostat. mine is set at 38f and is set just over 1/2 of the way on the dial.

I thought it might be useful to post the resolution to my original problem ...

It appears that the lack of cooling power was due to the frost build-up on the cooling plates. I guess I didn't realize how much there was until I analyzed it more closely. I turned the setting up enough so the frost would melt and drip onto a couple of towels I set up towards the back of the unit, dried everything up, and turned the thermostat back down.

Sure enough .. I can maintain about 38 degrees with the thermostat set to about the 2:00 position. It's been working fine for the past couple of weeks.
