new coupler?
i have the danby dkc645bls and have done most of the mods that everyone has suggested to do. My beer tasted so bad of plastic in the beginning, and i read on this site that it had to do with the black washer on the coupler. I have since removed it, but i still have a slight taste of that nasty plastic taste. I was wondering if i was to buy a new d coupler, would that eliminate the taste, and is an all stainless one better than the other one. thanks for the help

Hmm... Where is this "black washer" located on the coupler? Most of them are fairly important and I'm not sure I would recommend removing one, but then again I haven't seen the post you mention. I would be looking at your beer lines more than anything. Have you given your system a thorough cleaning yet?

no cleaning - out of the box hooked everything up. if you have the coupler disconnected and you pull the handle down there is a black hard plastic washer in the center. this is the one i took off. it also has a washer around the outer edge of it. the coupler has a DT stamped on it. it works fine without it but i still have slight plastic taste

Sounds like you removed the probe gasket. I don't see how you can pour with that. What do you have your co2 set at?

I think he means he took out the check ball and the retainer. I think I've read on previous posts that this has caused a nasty taste problem. May need to flush the line, make sure all remains of the ball and retainer are out. If this fixes it I'd get a new ball and retainer.
