Question O Ring Lube: How about Crisco?

Can Crisco be a reasonable lubricant for the o-rings used in Picnic/Party pump taps? How about keg couplers as well?

No, that fats in the oil will cause problems with head retention in the beer.

Unless it's a brew drinking emergency why search for a substitute when Lubrifilm is so cheap??

It would disgust me to rub vaseline on anything that I would be consuming considering the well know 'recreational' usage of that particular lube.
