Default no pressure

I have had my kegerator for a few years and it has worked OK. I just got a keg of Harp (which I have had in the past). I have the correct tap and just got my CO2 canister filled. My problem; no pressure.

I did the following with the new keg;

1.) attached the tap to the lines, one for the beer, one for the CO2.

2.) tapped the keg ( I got some beer up the line)

3.) Turned on the CO2, set the pressure to about 12, opened the valve on the CO2 line.

4.) Waited for about 4 hours to pull a cold one, but I seemed to have very little pressure, I did try cranking up the pressure, but that had no effect.

5.) I was able to get a pitcher to fill with lots of head, I am guessing the reason is because of the little pressure from the keg.

6.) I have repeated the steps above 2-3 times and no luck each time.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions???? I have a cold keg waiting, but not able to get to it. Thanks!!!

There is a check ball in the coupler's probe that may be stuck. Check this first.

Scott, Where is the check ball? Also, I noticed that there is plastic "filter" that seems to be squeezed into the tap when I take the lines off. I can pull it out, but wonder why it is going into the tap? Thanks.

the ball Scott is referring to is in the coupler that hooks to the keg, it prevents backflow of beer back into the keg. shake it and you should be able to hear it moving around

This plastic filter you refer probably is the retainer that stops the check ball in the probe from blocking the flow. If there was no check ball present you do not need to be concerned with it sticking. Sometimes the ball is removed because it sticks (due to lack of cleaning). As Topgun noted, shake the coupler and you should here it rattle. If this is not the issue we may have to start at square one.

What is you liquid temp., what brand of beer, what elevation do you reside, etc. Please advise.
